About Us:
We are a family farm located in Queen Anne’s
County, Maryland. John, Andrew, Barbara, and Jack all work growing and selling
lettuce to a variety of local customers in the Baltimore Washington area. We
also employ six full time greenhouse workers and one full time delivery driver.
About our Greenhouse:
Our Commercial
sized greenhouse is 24,000 square
feet. (1/2 Acre) We have 42,000 heads of
lettuce growing in different stages of
production. We grow and sell lettuce
all year long. We pick fresh lettuce every
day. Our lettuce is sold with
the “roots on” so it will stay fresh longer than
field grown lettuce. (2-3 weeks)
Our greenhouse is categorized as
Controlled Environment Agriculture. Our lettuce is
grown in indoors, in water. (Hydroponic) High density production, higher yields,
more efficient use of energy, lower water consumption, more ecologically
acceptable disease and insect control, and greater control over the plants
nutritional requirements are a few of the significant
advantages.
